Small museum experience off the beaten path. The Rangers that staff this fascinating fossil museum make the exhibits come to life in their knowledge and descriptions of types of fossils, their era's, and how they were created. Got a patch and stamp! Did not realize that horses were prevalent over 10,000 yrs ago. Awesome experience and be sure to quiz the rangers!

Nice variety of fossils and things, but so, so small. Very easily became too crowded. They have an excellent set of drawers with activities for little people (2-5y).nCheck out the museum down the road too! Lots more displays. Local people stuff, not just earth stuff. It's not ideal for the little kids, though.

A slightly entertaining but not exceptional place to visit for less than 20 minutes.nThe ladies and workers at this location were very knowledgeable and kind about the area and the Hagerman Horse fossil.nI guess we were just expecting more. The fossils they have are mostly common ones they have located elsewhere.nIt seems like this location could be combined with other locations to save on tax payer dollars.

This is a small place, but has some nice fossils. You cannot get into the Fossil beds, but there is a nice lookout. The visitor center is a good educational resource and kid friendly.

This was a nice little stop while we were in the area. As a geologist and horse lover, I was thoroughly fascinated with the Hagerman Horse. My kids loved playing with the hands on items available (and I appreciated that there was an area they could explore). Clean bathrooms and friendly staff topped off the visit. One thing though - Google maps doesn't show the accurate location for the visitors center... It's actually in the town of Hagerman, not in the designated land.
