First time camping at Frances Slocum State Park August 2020, Site 75 in the tent, non-electric loop. We enjoyed the park very much, and we loved our campsite. There are 2 loops that we walked around many times. The sites vary, the ones along the outside of the loop are generally nice and big. The campground was quiet with very faint traffic noise at nite, but not enough to be a disturbance. Park Rangers made their rounds, and when a severe storm was approaching they drove around and stopped at every campsite to warn people of the storm and directed us to get in our car or the bath house. We saw many Ranger's vehicles driving around during the storm which was very comforting. The bath houses are dated but not bad, and were very clean with dishwashing sinks and hot water. We liked the hiking trails around the park but they are not marked very well. The Latch Tree trail is very worthwhile, and we went to see the rock ledge where little Frances had been after her abduction. There are paddleboats and kayaks to rent, and fellow campers had gone to Ricketts Glen for the day to hike the trails there. We will definitely return, would be nice to see in the fall.

Great park overall and was impressed with the amenities. We stayed overnight in a walk in site, which was uphill from the parking lot so getting gear there was a little more effort than expected. Sites are nicely sized, shaded, and well maintained. Very impressed with the restroom conditions upon arrival, however by the end of the weekend it was getting dirty. Not sure what the cleaning schedule is like... otherwise great lake, nice trails, and good staff. Above my expectations!

This place is so wonderful to take kids, to have a family day, a picnic, fish, go on a boat, playground, swim, camp, etc. its so well kept. The scenery in this fall season is just AMAZING! Perfect for family photos or some relaxation time! This place is just so so beautiful!

Frances Slocum State Park, in Wyoming, PA, is a short 1/2 hr drive from I-81 and North of Wilkes-Barre, PA. From I-81, the better route to the park is PA-309 as the alternative route uses local city roads.nnThe RV camping area is clean and well maintained, with park personnel making rounds on a regular basis. Check-in for preregistered camping was particularly easy as we were instructed to go directly to our site, which was clearly marked and had a printout of our reservation. Check-out time really is 3 pm, so if you arrive early you may need to wait until your reserved site has been vacated.nnElectrical service is available for sites in Stony Point, which can accommodate a large range of RV lengths; the Hemlock Hill loop offers a mix of RV and tent camping, with the Rocky Knoll loop offering tent camping. Potable water is available from a number of spigots in each loop. Bathrooms and showers are located in a building at each loop, with no charge for using the showers. Sites have fire rings and wood is available at the pool area on the way into the park, so be sure to get what you need as the camp sites are quite a distance from the pool and park area. Cell service on AT&T in the Stony Point loop is very good as a cell tower is located a short distance away. A dump station for RV waste tanks is located near the Stony Point loop, as is a launch for kayaks, canoes, etc. The roads throughout the park are well maintained and easy to walk, with numerous trails for hiking.

I walked my dogs on the road leading to the closed family camping area. Thank you rangers for keeping it open to us people on foot that need a place to exercise and walk on the road next to the lake. I know you're just doing your job but I also know you could just as well block it off and call it closed if you wanted to.
