Not a bad school. I went there in 2010, then I graduated there in 2014. I've had some ups and downs, but overall, I really like being there. Middle school, to me, was kinda a pain in the ass, though the only thing I liked about it were the dances. Anyways, I enjoy being at Parkland. I miss talking to and seeing my friends and acquaintances the most. My favorite after school activities would have to be: P.A.L.S., Film Club, Bible Club and of course, weight-lifting. But I did return there the year after I graduated. But that was only because I was in the Work-Based Learning/Transitioning Program (the program where I stayed until I'm 21) and it only lasted 1 year for me because I applied and went to Project SEARCH that time. Sometimes, part of me always knew life would end after high school. Not seeing the people you usually talk to anymore and everything else. And sometimes, you just want to start all over again. But hey, it's life. Anyways, I had a blast at Parkland (despite some ups and downs), and I truly missed it, along with the other people I no longer interact with.
I have had my kids in the parkland school district for many years. Schools were great until high school. Administration is extremely rude and nasty people. They demonstrate signs of rudeness and lack of great work ethic. The assistant principle Ms. George is an extremely unpleasant human being to talk to. Her gestures and the manner in which she speaks to parents and kids is unacceptable. . If she hates her job why doesnt she just quit?? Her face looks like she’s in the most horrible place she can imagine. Her tone is horrible and unfriendly. Not only that but the front desk attendant is unpleasant as well.I think her name is Kelly Ciciliot, she is not doing my child a favor by helping since hence we do pay taxes for the school and WE sign her paycheck. The only good part is the role model of the principal. Wish his staff would follow his role model.
Okay, for everyone that is commenting about the shooting, THAT WASNT HERE! THIS IS ALLENTOWN PA. And to get to the point, this school is awful. I’m a junior here and year after year I hate the administrators, most of the teachers, and the rules and discrimination. One time they banned girls from wearing HEADBANDS, i once got dress coded for wearing RIPPED JEANS, and half the teachers don’t know how to teach. All they do is give you bookwork to do by yourself at home and then expect you to take a test on it. There’s discrimination on girls for clothing, we get dress coded for cold shoulder tops, 3-finger width tank tops, and apparently even ripped jeans. My administrator, Mrs George, discriminates against Hispanics. She dress coded me in front of my 6 other white friends who were all wearing ripped jeans, and I was the one that got dress coded. I’m hispanic. Also, our school values gym over any other subject. To be excused from gym you MUST have an injury report and if you are sick, as in having the flu, and you bring in a doctors note, you STILL get a 0 for gym class and they force you to make it up before or after school. Everything is rediculous . All they care about is wealthy white people and athletes.
I've attended this school for upwards of twelve years, and, from what I hear of other area public school, I have no complaints.
the only reason i gave it a one star is because in the Othello movie, Othello runs out wearing bedsheets, in the middle of the night. i mean, seriously man, at least have the decency to put on some clothes! what if there was a bad wind that night? then you're standing naked in front of thousands of people! this is the only problem with my high school experience here
