Im one month new to Winnemucca, but have visited here 3-4 times/year over the last 2 years. I've tried 2-3 other churches and while they all have their good points, I seem to enjoy this church enough that I've come back several weeks now. The church is large, without feeling lost. Almost every person realized I was new and came to say hello to me before, during and after service. The music, as I understand, is in a state of change. For now, the pastor plays the guitar, and there is a woman who plays the organ, and another gal who sings with the Pastor. There is a mom with two young daughters who have come up to sing, which is nice, too. Generally - the music on the screen scrolls ahead of the next verse - which is my one pet peeve....we really need to see the words BEFORE we're ready to sing, and certainly before the Pastor/choir are singing it, so this was nice to see they are on the ball in the control panel. I do hope they get more folks in the choir and more musical instruments over time. My only critique is that the songs generally tend to be slow and I (personally) want faster, hand-clapping, more energetic songs.... I like my music upbeat and get me on my feet, hands raised, and a joyful song in my heart and mouth. The pastor truly knows his attendees, mentions them by name - lifting them up as they ask for various prayers, etc. I like his bible-based teachings, which is probably why I feel this is likely my new church home. As with any church, it can be a struggle to get folks in the building, yet in CA with over a million people in my city... it was a struggle there too. More a testament to Satan's power rather than a testament to the pastor's preaching. I'm hoping the numbers will change once summer/vacations end and everyone returns to their home church. For me..... I think I've found a good church home.
