I live in the Midwest and I can not be traveling to Cumberland County all the time to do research. It would be nice if they would digitized the various Cumberland County Newspapers. If you live there great, but when you live far away not so good. They are always sending me notices to contribute to them and I would if they had some resources I could use. Shippensburg, Harrisburg and Gettysburg have their Newspapers online. It is a great research tool. They say they are premier.

Wonderful museum, staff, place to do genealogy research. Found actual, original record of Great-grandparents marriage in Carlisle First Presbyterian on 3 June 1794. Wow.

Stumbled on to this after a visit to the History Shop/Cumberland Valley Visitor Center around the corner. Check out the exhibits ... especially upstairs. Great way to while away and morning .... then go down the street to your choice of restaurants/coffee spots/shopping. Vintage small American small town.

I enjoyed the Camp Michaux Walking Tour lead by David Smith on Saturday, November 5th. I attended Camp Michaux as a child in the late 60's. I especially enjoyed the history of the camp area as a CCC Camp and POW Interrogation Camp prior to it being a church camp. The area now is overgrown with trees and brush, but it was great to walk the area again. David did an excellent job of pointing out areas where the buildings stood during all three uses of the area.
