Costco Pharmacy

Came to pick up script and was warmly greeted by CSR. In and out in no time. Best prices on most meds within our area.

I have been to many costcos and they generally have friendly employees because they are paid super well and the company treats them right. I worked at another pharmacy chain as a technician so I am very experienced and do not have unrealistic expectations unlike many customers who are not familiar with the field(not their fault, its hectic behind the scenes). My problem here is with the pharmacist. I did not get her name, but she is the old lady. She oversteps her boundaries as a pharmacist and undermines the physician, attempting to intervene in a patients care even when they've been getting the same medications for years at Costco.nnMore than one member of my family has had a problem with her doing this. She treats you like a junkie for being prescribed ANY controlled substance(I'm not talking about opiates here, schedule 4s) and demands to speak to the physician regarding every single prescription which wastes everyones time-the patient, the pharmacy, the doctor. My prescription was being filled at another costco, and I wanted to get one of my refills at this location(big mistake) and it turned into a whole debacle ofcourse involving her wanting to speak to the physician. For a refill. On a medication I'd been on for 3+ years. My doctor does not have a receptionist and his practice is very efficient. Patients schedule themselves through the online portal. He does not have time to answer the phone during business hours because he is seeing patients.nnThen, when presented with another script for that same medication in the future, she refused to fill it because she could not get ahold of my doctor. Again, this is not an opiate or a benzodiazepine. This medication is not even abusable. She then proceeds to lie and say that it is PA law that she has to speak to the doctor about this medication. You lied to the wrong person, because I worked as a technician in PA and I know all the laws. When it came to schedule 4's, we didn't even need to talk to the pharmacist, we just entered it into the system. Then she blacklisted me from every costco making it harder to get my medication filled, and wrote a warning on my prescription that I could not remove, thus altering a prescription which is illegal, and making it harder to fill somewhere else.nnMy father has been on medications for years as he has a variety of health problems. And he had always been getting them from Costco. For years, it was the same combination of medications(not even controlled substances in this case). He visited us and we had to fill some of his prescriptions which had refills and should be no problem, but this same lady had to make an issue, again wanting to call the physician to verify why he is on this combination of medications. My father is a very sick man and his mental faculties are not all there because he is elderly, so not the most responsible with refills, and only refills when they are empty. He was in serious distress having been without the medication for an extended period of time, all because this woman couldn't get in contact with a doctor. SPOILER ALERT: The doctor prescribed it, of course he is okay with it. She thinks she is smarter than a doctor even though she has less education.nnEventually, someone is going to die or be seriously injured because this nasty old woman refuses them their medication. She should be forced to retire, she has no compassion and should not be in this field.
