J's Pet Store

Great locally owned pet store. Nice staff and great selection of products and live animals. Shopping local has more benefits than you know, and I highly recommend this local shop.

DISGUSTING. The floors looked like they hadn't been swept in a week and were covered in feathers, bedding, rodent and bird poop, etc. So many animals crammed into a tiny space. None of them looked happy or healthy in any way, shape, or form. The fish tanks looked like they hadn't been cleaned in at least six months. There were no lights over the tanks, probably to keep you from seeing how sick the fish were. There were goldfish being kept in a horse water trough that had some sort of filter that gave off such a strong current that the goldfish were being blown into the walls of the trough and into each other. Rats and rodents were being kept in aquariums that were so badly covered in a milky white film that you couldn't even see inside the tank. When looking in through the tops of these "rodent aquariums," they so were disgusting and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. The rodents all looked dirty, disgusting, neglected, and sick. I've been in twice, and both times, the conditions have been just as horrible. I refuse to go back or support them in any way. I've heard horrible things about them from other knowledgeable pet owners in the area as well. I don't know why the city doesn't shut them down! Please do not support these people. If you walk into the store and can't see anything wrong with it, then you're probably not knowledgeable enough to be owning pets.
