The Lahaska Bookshop

This shop has a wonderful selection and an amazing staff. I have shopped here many times and I always find something lovely on their Staff Picks shelves. Also the ladies working there today were so sweet to my dog Fiona. I am always very cautious with entering any establishment with her, she is not a Service Animal, we are always super careful about making sure everyone is comfortable with her. And when I asked there was nothing but absolute enthusiasm. It was great!

Beautiful displays and carefully curated selections. Really peaceful and colorful environment that delights in books and accessories. Great gifts and friendly staff make for a gem of a bookstore. Looking forward to trips back.

There are so many great things to say about this bookshop and their staff. I stop in maybe every couple of weeks, but I’m going to share my specific experience from yesterday.nnSo, I had seen an interview with a female author on the morning news yesterday and after running into the post office I thought I’d run in and grab her new book. I’ve never read any of her other books and I could not remember her name. I thought I’d just google the show I was watching and they’d list her as a guest. I COULD NOT FIND HER NAME! I stood outside the bookstore for maybe five minutes trying to figure out the name of the book or author and I couldn’t. I finally walked in (mask fully secured) and just let the two ladies at the counter know the deal. I said, I know this is gonna be a challenge and if you can’t help I’ll just have to do more research on my own. I explain the kind of book, it’s a female author, white cover, pink writing (I think), maybe has the word “she” in the title, it’s a newer release. BAM! Those ladies found that book! Since I’m there pretty frequently I know that the staff really knows their stuff, but I was still surprised that they could figure out what book I was talking about based on my limited description and no actual information to look it up in their system. The bookshop is so cute and fun and it’s layout is easy to shop. They’ve got really great books for kids (Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls). All that said, the staff really makes this shop what it is. They’re all so knowledgeable and helpful. If you’re a book lover, this is the place for you! Support small, support local!
