Muhlenberg Township

Warning to all residents of Muhlenberg township:nI received a note on my door stating that an existing structure on my property needed a permit immediately. After calling to question the need for the permit since I lived in the same home for 12 years and was not sure why I didn’t have a permit. Again, this was an existing structure, nothing new. I was told very rudely that it was not the townships fault that I got away with something for so long. I was also told I needed to rectify it “immediately” or I would receive a citation. I was very confused since I have had permits for everything that was done to my house since 2007. After looking through my paperwork, I found proof of the permit, from 2009, that they insisted I didn’t have. I called and left a message to point out their error but I have yet to receive a call back or an apology. I wonder how many other people they have done this to and how many people paid for permits that they already had. Which, by the way, is FRAUD! You would think a zoning officer would know what permits exist prior to accusing a home owner and tax payer of not having one.nUPDATE: the same day they accused me of not having a permit, they mailed a certified letter to my house. This was prior to them receiving my phone call with my permit number and documentation. I wonder how many other unnecessary certified letters are sent with tax payers money. I’ll be visiting their office first thing Monday morning with copies of my 2009 permit since they apparently do not know where to find their copy. This threatening behavior is harassment and I plan to file an official complaint.

Wish the agenda for the commishioner's meeting would be posted on the day of the meeting. I would like to know in advance what agenda is to be covered. Got it. It's Ok now. Got with the IT guy and we are all set.
