Tried calling during business hours but the only thing I could get through to was their voicemail. I need information before I can file a complaint but no one will answer the phone!

I contacted the director Jacqueline Molinaro Thompson about the serious health issues of a HUD high rise for the low income elderly in the Hempfield Towers located in Greensburg PA. This facility is in need of major repairs but the housing authority in Westmoreland County is more interested in building new facilities while allowing those tenants in the older building to suffer. The Hempfield Towers has a large community room which reopened after being shut down for 3 months due to the pandemic. Bingo has resumed starting last week and the weekends. Many of the elderly tenants at the Hempfield Towers have underlying health issues including Bladder problems. However the housing authority ordered the restrooms in the community room closed over the weekends. This causes serious issues for those tenants that need to use the toilet and are forced to use the toilet in their own apartment. Hempfield Towers is a nine story building which is 42 years old and the elevators are not functioning most of the time which is not only unsafe but make it difficult for the elderly tenants when they need to use the toilet in their own apartments. Ms. Molinaro-Thompson's response to me was they have nothing to do with how the housing authority operates in Westmoreland County. In other words she doesn't care about those elderly residents but she is only concerned about herself and her $146, 627 yearly salary. The local media in both Greensburg and Pittsburgh have been following and are continuing to investigate the housing authority and HUD regarding these serious issues. As director Ms. Molinaro-Thompson has done very little and so has Michael Washowich who is the executive director of the Westmoreland County Housing Authority. Changes must be made immediately....

I called the Pittsburgh HUD office because that is the district office for my county. Wow, the person kept interrupting me, never gave me her name, and asked what could she do for me. It's not for me. I'm beyond staying in my county. I said four times before she finally got it that I have been trying for two years to move. She said that she would call the executive director of hud. I don't think it will do any good. Sooooo. Frustrating. Completely done.
