Established in 1891, Saint Joseph is the first and oldest Roman Catholic Church in New Kensington. The current building was built in 1922 and designed by Carlton Strong, who designed many churches throughout western Pennsylvania, including the basilica at Saint Vincent University and Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
