I expressed my concern to one of the managers about a bad experience I had with one his employees and he was professional, courteous and he appeared to be genuinely concerned.nnMost occasions staff there are eager to assist and go out of their way to satisfy.nnThis store most always has whatever product or aquatic creature I'm looking for and a solid answer for every question.nnAlso they asked if customers had masks and were able to offer disposable masks so the customers did not have to leave the store and were able to stay and shop.

Simply the best aquarium/pet store in the Pittsburgh area. They have tons of aquatic species you will NOT find anywhere else. Trust me I've checked. Their prices are reasonable they are very knowledgeable I trust them to tell me what I need to know and not just trying to make a sale. They also have great suggestions of different species you might not be used to. Finally and this is a big one, Elmer's is the only fish/pet store I would trust putting their water into my tank. I still wouldn't recommend it but for a brand new tank it would be fine they have some of the cleanest tanks/healthiest fish I've ever seen. I go out of my way and pass probably 3 or more big box stores everytime I drive the 30+ mins to get there. Every single time it is completely worth it. Plus they have a rewards program!!!

Love this shop. Tanks are crystal clear. Lots of stock and variety. We stop every time we go to Monroeville. Bought around 25 fish the last time there mainly different tetras and they all have been doing well. Only had 3 die which isn't bad considering the hour long ride and new environment.

I personally think the product selection, customer service, and knowledge of the staff is exceptional. I don't know why I'm reading so many reviews that suggest the contrary.nnI am brand new to fish/ aquatic plant keeping and I have discovered that it is a hobby that takes a surprising amount of research. Each time I've come in to Elmer's, I've been able to ask dozens of questions of any of the staff (stocking ideas, fish compatibility, tank sizes, water parameters) and they have always been extremely kind, informative and patient with my rather noobish questions. Further, all of the staff seem to really care about the well being of the animals that they sell. All fish tanks appear to have their own separate filtration (vs central filtration which is often found in larger pet stores) and this is arguably the best bet for ensuring the health of the fish they sell.nnThe fish and plant selection is incredible, I feel like a kid in a toy store here. Don't be shy if you are new to fish keeping, go ask them all questions and try not to spend all of your money if you get addicted like me.

Wow this place has so many tanks of fish and all the supplies needed to keep them and other pets happy. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable when testing our tank water and suggesting compatible fish.
