Carnegie Mellon Police people are very nice and helpful! I was once locked out of my room and they specially sent an officer to help me get in late at night.nnI have always heard great things about CMU Police from my friends and colleagues.nnDefinitely recommend reaching out if you need any type of help, big or small!
Talked with the police chief about a subject concerning the campus. Was very helpful and answered everything I asked. Has an excellent police force and excellent methods for protecting students and faculty on campus.
MAYBERRY town run security. Big money for all the bells and whistles. But, can't use it. Ex city and surburban cops making fat salaries. More respect for Pitt Police.
Really not legitimate police, and also not even useful as security: they barely have a presence on campus at all! Just about the only thing they are good for is to send out (frequent) emails about all the crime near campus that they can't do anything about. Total joke.
Unhelpful, bureaucratic, and harasses POC on campus. I recently saw them harassing an older black man near Cohon. He looked like a workman on campus for repairs. Two female police surrounded him, and he had his hands on the hood of his truck and was leaning into it as they stood threateningly by. It was not a friendly meeting. A few minutes later another cop (male) comes up in his squad car too. How many cops do you need to bust one upper-middle aged black man? Seriously? Did he even do anything? Or did he just happen to be on campus without a nametag?
