I abhor everything Evergreen with the exception of it's library. They've got the only genuine employees and a service completely alien to the rest of the campus.nBy far this is the best library for hundreds of miles!
I'm an Evergreen State college student and I actually love the library, but you don't need to be a student to enjoy it! You just can't check out books. You can still use the computers, browse books, scan, print, and find a seat with a beautiful view.
Great place to study. Community members can access this library as well.
Very helpful service staff in the library! The selection of books for borrowing is on the second level, where you'll find plenty of seating and desks to study at. The above windows cover the entire wall looking out onto Red Square and the rest of the campus. Looks beautiful at night with all the lights!
Besides being a literal library this building is home to a few interesting areas, like the scrawny and underfed trans & queer center and unity lounge where people go to be ignored by staff and left to solve their own insurmountable problems; the working area staffed by underpaid students and overworked councilors; the sad and forgotten art gallery; the laughable student services and main desk where they try to trick people into enrolling by putting happy black people on the pamphelets, and claiming liberal arts is even remotely related to TESC; but most importantly, it has the third floor area-- where the administration have basically claimed the entire floor as some vouyeristic throne room from which they literally gaze down on the students from above. They are terrified of student presense on the third floor because they know their crimes and they are anticipatory of vengence. If you go up there, take a camera and a buddy, because they will try to be as gross as possible.
