Recently desired to change vets as our favorite vet tech left our previous vet's office and we never saw the vet there anyway, just her staff. So we checked with friends, vet techs, on-line reviews, etc. Chose Valley Vet and saw Dr. McFrederick for a same day apt. Our 12 yr old large dog has been declining in hindquarter stability. He examined her thoroughly and gently, then recommended X-rays. The staff gave us an estimate of the total cost and explained what might make it the higher amount and what would reduce it (she is very large and very long so they were uncertain how many X-rays (2-4) would be needed to see the full length of her spine from 2 angles.) Their digital X-rays were GREAT. Dr. McFrederick reviewed them with us, explained his diagnosis and gave us the option of pursuing more detailed information with a specialist, which, since she is 12, we declined. (Sadly she has a degenerative nerve problem; thankfully it is not a painful condition.) The office visit was competitively priced. The X-rays were a touch more but the quality of the digital made them well worth it as we could see many of her organs and such. The medication -for pre-existing minor arthritis in her shoulders- was less expensive than at our previous vet's. They were very busy but the staff worked well.
