We stayed at Velma's for 4 weeks in March and had a perfect stay. The neighborhood is very quiet yet easily assessable to major roads, stores and public transportation. It was very tranquil, yet in the heart of the city.nnVelma's house was well stocked with everything you need in the kitchen, laundry, bathrooms and baby supplies. Several nights we had company and were able to seat and serve 8 people for dinner which was nice.nnThe owner was accessible, yet only came around when we asked. She was helpful and accommodating (finding a safe place to lock up my bike). The off-street parking (behind the house) was really nice.nnThe secluded back yard and gardens, the sun room are very secluded and a lovely place to unwind.nnI would definitely stay at Velma's again.

I rented this house for a three week stay in January; I am a small business owner and we were visiting Denver for a long trade show. I am not sure how I stumbled onto this little gem via the internet, but I am very glad I did. It was an awesome alternative to a hotel! The house is clean and neat and included all the amenities like soap, shampoo, conditioner and laundry detergent; there were movies available to watch on a DVD player and a large selection of books on a bookshelf. The kitchen is well stocked with any gadget you would need, plus coffee, tea and a multitude of spices for cooking. It is in a nice little neighborhood that seemed extremely safe which was important as my group mostly consisted of women. Plus it was very easy to get to and close to a major street to get us to our destination quickly. Linda was just great to work with and we appreciated her attention without her being overly helpful. Overall, I think you would have to be very critical to find much fault with a stay at Velma's guest house. If we go back to Denver next year, you can bet I will contact her again. (We stayed at the 1218 Garfield house; she has 3 locations)

Our family had a wonderful time at Velma's Guest House. We stayed at 1230 Garfield Street for 8 days during our trip to Denver. It's a beautiful house, perfectly maintained. The four bedrooms were plenty of room. The kitchen was modern and clean. The back porch and beautifully landscaped back yard were ideal. The location was very convenient, close to everything in Denver. The owner, Linda, was so helpful and gracious. We definitely recommend staying here. There's just no comparison to a hotel.
