We recently moved to Redding and were fully aware of the homeless population and impoverished areas so when we took our two kids to the library we weren't expecting much but just hoping they had books. It was such a relief and even great surprise to find they had that and more for kids! There's a fantastic section for kids that's removed from the rest of the library. They have Legos, board games, a sensory table, a projector that displays games, and so much more. Our girls LOVE it! We even attended a story time and found a charming room for the staff member to read to the kids free of distraction. Sure there are a lot of homeless crowds there but it's a free and public area to share so what do most people expect? If I were homeless in this weather I'd sure as heck be somewhere with AC or heating. And hopefully, at a library I would take the time to pick up a book and figure a way out of my homelessness! Hoping the same for these people!
