DO NOT GO HERE. THIS PLACE WILL SWINDLE YOU EXTENSIVELY. MORE LIKE SALESMAN THAT VETS. they over- vaccinate dogs. And the service is absolutely horrible because they seem to be perpetually under- staffed. How shocking for a mega corporation! Seems like they should hire a few more folks! They definitely have the overhead.nThey will give services you do not ask for, them charge you for them. And when you call to dispute the transaction, the practicing manager is so busy good luck getting a call back.nnNOT WORTH IT.

I was very worried for my Siamese cat Rocket when he started peeing outside the litter box. I brought him in for vaccinations and a urinary test. Dr. Brick was wonderful! She asked me a lot of questions and we came up with a plan. The test came back as a bacterial infection and he was put on antibiotics. It was such a smooth and easy process. Dr. Brinck really put me at ease and I knew Rocket was in the best care. Also, the staff that works at Banfield Santa Cruz are friendly, helpful, and it is so obvious how much they love animals and have a passion for what they do. I was rescheduled once which was no problem at all because I know first-hand what a struggle it is to serve the public during these unprecedented times. I think people forget how these essential workers risk their health to serve people and their pets. Thank you Dr. Brinck and Banfield for taking such good care of my fur baby!

I would say not to go to this place. Bad experience. Dr Sugar is rude. My dog had an allergic reaction to something and got hives. I reminded the staff that my dog is on the wellness plan there. The doctor said that we have to go to the emergency room. So I had no choice but to take her to the emergency room. The next week I had to reschedule an appointment with Banfield and luckily the manager answered the phone and I mentioned what happened. She apologized and said that they should have seen my dog and that they made a mistake.. and that she would speak to her staff..but I got stuck with a $200.00 emergency visit bill. So for the next visit (for a virus) Dr. Brink saw my dog and took care of her great no problem.! I mentioned my dog had a growth on her skin and for her spay appointment could she just cut the lump off cause it was growing. Dr. Brink said yes and just to let the staff know loudly that they would be taking the growth off. So the day comes the dog hasn’t ate for 12 hours and is on her way to get to get the spay and lump off. I drop her off and an hour later Dr. Sugar called me and told me that I have to set 2nd appointment for another surgery that she could not cut the lump off at the spay. I told her what the other doctor said and she said it’s not in there policy.and on and on. Someone followed up with me the next day and told me she was embarrassed. This was my experience and I hope no one else has to go through this with Banfield..So I went and picked up my dog and now we are seeking another vet.

Is a good place to take your pet, they are always busy and sometimes they forget to follow up when they are supposed to call you back.

The staff is not very friendly. They feel like whatever they’re doing is more important than helping you. My dog never was afraid to go to the vet and every time I bring her to this location she freaks out and shakes and acts like a completely different dog. I’ve been a Banfield insurance consumer for my pets for 10 years and this location has made me decide to cancel my pet insurance through Banfield and look for a different insurance plan. There has been a problem every single time I come and they are always running late. So they make it an excuse that they’re late that they can’t help you right away but they’re always late and nothing ever changes. Then after I asked to just pay for my dog so I can’t leave I understand their social distancing rules but if somebody’s waiting in the lobby for the doctor to come get their dog and my dog is ready and I can just pay for her and pick her up maybe they should ask the other person to wait outside for two minutes. Since she would be waiting there a lot longer than it would take for me to pay for my dog pick her up and get out of there. Instead I was given a piece of paper to call and put a card on file and if I hadn’t called by the end of the day my vet bill would be sent to collections. What if I would’ve waited in the lobby for my dog and you couldn’t have checked anybody in that whole time because my 15 minute appointment had now turned into a 45 minute appointment. Instead I did the polite thing and stepped outside because I saw somebody waiting outside to check the dog… Too bad this location is the closest one for me because all of the other Banfields I’ve been to have been very nice it’s this specific location that’s full of rotten eggs
