Mohamed and MIsty provide the opportunity to explore the diverse music and dance of Morocco. I have been on two tours with Mohamed and Misty, in 2016 & 2018 and am looking forward to returning once again this year (2019). Everywhere we stayed, music happened, often in a spontaneous form— at times the owners of the various Riad’s we stayed in (by the way all beautiful, comfortable with excellent accommodations & YUMMY food), other times musician friends and of course going to see performances. One memorable moment (out of many) was when we were in Merzouga, October 2018. Mohamed was determined that our group see the singing and dancing of the women Gnawa. We hopped in the van and drove to a community center, asked around and before you could finish a cup of refreshing mint tea, there was a group of Gnawa women and men dancing and singing. Another moment, from 2018 was when Mohamed arranged for the Aiwash (please forgive my spelling) to perform at the Kasbah in Quarzazet. A group of women encouraged us to join in the dance with them while the men played drums. It was incredible to watch, and also to be a part of this traditional dance in such an historical setting. The women were so friendly and excited to have us join them. My Morocco Tours allows a person to dip into the culture as much or as little as feels comfortable. Highly recommended!!!
