The staff at Lake Stevens Animal Hospital are very kind and compassionate. We had two cats and had to have one of them euthanized recently because of a sudden illness. Dr. Renee Gray and the rest of the staff were so kind and helpful throughout the whole process. They made sure they answered all of our questions and they also made sure we were making the right choice for us. They also have followed up many times with our other cat. He has been doing well through this grieving process, thanks to their advice. They also sent us a really nice card afterwards with a beautiful poem and did paw prints in clay so we could have a memorial of Daisy. I highly recommend Lake Stevens Animal Hospital for all pet owners.
The people that work here are super friendly and treated our puppy as if he was one of their own. They gave us very accurate quotes and actually found a package that saved us some money. Any questions we have they have no problem answering. They will definitely now be our go to vet.
This place isn't cheap but they are really good. I have a 13 year old Chihuahua and so it's important to me that the vet that sees him is experienced with senior animals. They came highly recommend by the woman who runs the senior dog part of Save-a-mutt and they did not disappoint. My chihuahua had pretty major dental surgery and a lump removed from his head and he was just fine after the procedure. If you have an old dog this is the place to go!
Everyone at Lake Stevens Animal Hospital has been amazing since we switched to them as our vet and we are super happy with everything that they have done for our pups. We changed after Frontier turned completely corporate and Lake Stevens Animal Hospital made us feel very welcome. The doctor, nurses, and team were all very friendly, explained all of the procedures and did not charge for any unnecessary paperwork or processes. They did a wonderful job of neutering our 2 pups and called to check frequently post-surgery. Our pups are also much more comfortable at this facility and far less stressed. We will be going back for all of our future veterinary services. Thank you!
Zero stars if able. I brought my GSD in because he started limping, when making the appointment I mentioned that it has been for a few days and with meloxicam it hadn’t improved and we should probably need x-rays and that his hip is noticeably swollen in the last day or so.nnThe technician said, hey, I see that he’s also due an annual exam, so we should probably also address that. Sure no problem. The day of the appt I do the pre appt questions over the phone while sitting in the parking lot as due COVID procedures dictate. I mention he has had watery bowel movements since last night and I’m not sure why, pain or GSD, because they are sensitive.nnThey take him for the appt and I get a call from the Vet, Koppa. She says that she noticed him walking and limping (duh) and she was concerned about a torn ACL (but the doggy equivalent) and they would want to do xrays. Okay, I ask why they didn’t just do xrays since that’s the whole reason I made the appt, for his obvious limping? Can’t today cause he wasn’t booked for enough time and they like to sedate for xrays. Ooookay... she then asks if I had any other concerns. I bring up the bowel movement and ask if that was even in his notes? They are, but she just hadn’t looked that closely at his notes (I assume anyways cause why would you ask?) and I keep hear her rifling through the pages on his chart. She prescribed me more meloxicam and tramadol for his pain, but only gives me enough for a ten day supply which isn’t going to get him to the next appt for xrays since they only do though on fridays. It seems like Koppa just saw annual exam and that’s what she focused on, without being thorough at all with the MAIN ISSUE. What am I paying you for?! He’s in pain, do your job!nnIt felt off enough that I consulted my vet friend who lives out of state. She had a lot of concerns based on my describing my pups issues.and where I saw swelling vs where Koppa was saying, hip vs. knee. I then noticed that his weight on his chart doesn’t look accurate. The year prior when we were in he weighed in at 94.5 and recently I had taken him for an emergency ear infection around thanksgiving and he weighed 88. That’s a big discrepancy for weigh when it comes to dogs and medication. My vet friend redid her calculations and told me how much I should be giving my boy instead.nnI decided the best route was to take him for a second opinion, especially when I saw the bill for 707$ for the sedation and xrays. Come to find out they were going to charge me for two consultations on the xrays. Oops on their part.nnDecided to go to Frontier Veterinary Clinic in Lake Stevens (they are AMAZING). Again, I do a phone consult prior to the appt and I talk to Dr Oas, who let me explain my misgivings and concerns, she was patient and heard me out. I took him in and they did xrays the same day.nnShe called me and said that even on first glance she suspected bone cancer, osteosarcoma. And that she suspected it on the upper femur and hip joint. She then said let’s do the xrays, which I agreed to.nnXrays confirmed (mostly) that it looked like bone cancer. She seemed surprised that anyone could professionally trained wouldn’t notice his swollen hip, which was so obvious. They wanted to send them out for a professional consult. Next day I got the results that yes, bone cancer but they can’t technically 100% confirm without a biopsy.nnDr Oas told me that with how advanced it already was, a biopsy wouldn’t be recommended because it would further degrade the bone in that area, which could lead to a potential break in the fragile bone. He was given 1-2 months on July 1st. He passed on July 20th.nnHis cancer is what it is, it was aggressive and it sucks. My advice to other pet parents, is that if you want quality care, other than vaccines, go someplace else. My second opinion appt cost me 644$ for the exam, xrays, and all the medication. He was given medication that was suitable to his pain. FYI, tramadol is controversial in dogs for pain. What makes me angry is how negligent they seemed there with my fur baby.
