We are fortunate to have our daughter Isabel attending Gabriela Mistral since Kindergarten. She is now a 3rd grader in the Spanish Dual Immersion program and she is fluently reading, writing and speaking both languages, English and Spanish, at grade level. She has also developed an easy ear to understand other languages that are close to Spanish, such as Portuguese.

My daughter has been in the Dual Immersion program for the past 4 years. It has been amazing to see her language abilities grow each year in both languages. Now in 3rd grade, she is reading and writing at grade level in both Spanish and English. The teachers and administrators at Mistral work hard to keep school fun and engaging, she loves going to school every day, and she always has a smile on her face at the end of the day. She is proud of her Spanish language skills and is eager to help translate when she encounters someone who only speaks Spanish.nnGabriela Mistral Elementary was formerly the Dual Immersion program at Mariano Castro Elementary School. The program was split out as a stand-alone school by the Mountain View Wishman School Distract in the Summer of 2015, so that the neighborhood program at Mariano Castro could have the space and freedom to grow and develop in it’s own way and so that the Dual Immersion program could have more autonomy. The schools are still housed on the same campus and share some facilities and come together for community events.

Amazing community! We have a daughter here and love the language, the parents and the kids.

I've been impressed with the quality of instruction, the dynamic leadership and the strong community of Mistral. We feel fortunate to be a part of it
