I worked for safeway for ten years. Company stresses service and speed more than anything. People in the pharmacy are really friendly. The meat people are great but the rest of the store not so good.
I've actually had consistently very good experiences with the employees at this Safeway, which is pretty much the only place that I've shopped for the past year. I have had a couple of problems with things being sold that were really close to their expiration date, in one case I discovered it was the same day as when I purchased it (thankfully I was planning to use it that night anyway). It's a grocery store, nothing to write home about, but there's nothing terribly wrong with it either.
Shouldn't have to wait in line for 10 minutes to check out. Employees are great just under employed. Lost this customer.
Pharmacy staff is very helpful and (with one exception) pleasant and courteous.
Service is slow and even worse in self checkout.
