Washington Shore Visitor Center

We love Bonneville Lock and Dam. While you have to be on the Oregon side to visit the navigation lock (only open to visitors during the summer), we prefer to visit the Washington side. The rangers will take you into the power house to see the workings of the generators. Also, there are a lot more fish that pass the viewing windows on the WA side compared to OR. If you can visit in August or September, the fish passing the windows will blow you away. Either side, this place is always worth a visit.

Amazing visitors center displaying the history and incredible impact in our energy industry. Friendly staff, excellent displays, fish viewing and wonderful video. Definitely check out the book near the fish ladder viewing windows; the stories added and option to do so really preserves the history of those that made the build possible!

Love the tour! Going inside the dam not just looking from above like on the Oregon side. Don't get me wrong, the Oregon side visiter center is fantastic also.

Cool place to stop by and learn about hydroelectric powers history here along the Columbia river. There's also some stuff on anadromous fish as well near the fish ladder
