Today was the first, and certainly the last time I visit the offices in Palm Desert California. I came in for a first-time appointment with two things to be accomplished. First was a consultion for a possible dental implant, second was a routine cleaning. I was impressed at the beginning with the professionalism of the office, with that eroding quickly after my dealings with a dental assistant, her name maybe Kathy. Below I will describe my unsatisfactory interaction with this person and subsequently your office manager.nnFirst I was greeted by the dental assistant with her mask pulled down below her nose, which I immediately asked her to pull up. She complied and did step back at that point, but was not 6 feet away at the beginning of our interaction. A few minutes later in the exam room she informed me she was going to remove her mask, as I had mine on and that would keep me safe. I immediately said that was not acceptable and she complied. However, I did get nervous as she did not seem to grasp the basic science of masks and aerosol spread viruses. While we might have been at best 6 feet apart, being in a confined space without a mask is not ideal. She completed her interview questions, left for a minute or two, then returned and started working on the computer to my right and behind me. I turned and saw her with the mask down below her nose again. I stood up and began walking out, saying I did not feel safe. She followed me down the hall and then attempted to remove the bib I was still wearing, I told her to back off and she did. I took it off and handed to her, told the office manager I was leaving due to the safety issue and leftnnI called from the car to explain what happened, but the office manager seemed to have his mind made up. He said the assistant stated she was always 6 feet away and they were in compliance with CDC guidelines. I said she was not always 6 feet away, again he reiterated the assistance’s claim, implying that I was wrong and/or dishonest. I told him at that point I would be filing a complaint with the Dental Board of California. He told me at that point they would reply that the employee was always 6 feet apart from me.nnThe bottom line is this, your employee seems to lack the basic medical understanding of mask protection. Moreover, in spite of my prompt to have her lift her mask on our first meeting, along with my not giving her permission to remove the mask in the exam room, she still returned and was non compliant to my request. My medical history, blood type, sex and age all make me higher risk, if she didn’t want to comply, she should have said so. When I spoke to the office manager, he stated he wished I wouldn’t have left so suddenly. Why would I remain in a place that I didn’t feel safe?
I've wanted to write this review for a long while, however, each time I visit Dr Anne Nicholas' office, there's usually something even better than prior visits.nI now feel compelled.nMy two previous dentists (Los Angeles area and Palm Desert) were both adamant about my not being a candidate for dental implants, due to severe bone loss and receding gum issues.nWhen my financial situation slightly improved, I began searching for prominent dental implant surgeons, curious about what could be done to regain my confidence when I smiled, or even talked. The effect had finally begun to take its toll.nIt took a while getting all the initial opinions of several other dental surgeons, friends' advice, along with my gut feeling, in chosing this particular dental surgeon.nFrom my initial visit, Dr Anne patiently took her time explaining each procedure, offering three different options, working for the best, most healthiest, and beautiful long term benefits. Always making sure it fit within my financial comfort zone.nWith extraordinary state of the art equipment, the surgical tech support team's work is impeccably harmonious during procedures, and I've had a lot!!!nVery warm and caring front and back office staff.nDr Alfano, Dental Prosthodontist, is remarkable, patient, very caring.nOf course after sinus lifts, bone grafts, ... there's usually the expected down time. She always calls later in the evening, making sure you're as comfortable as possible, giving her reassurance and post op reminders.nIt's rare when a brilliant surgeon - yes brilliant - has both warmth and empathy, which Dr Anne has always displayed.nAnother huge bonus: It's all under one roof!!!nEliminating the anxiety of life post implants, I have the security of ongoing dental hygiene right in the office.
Right before I settled for a place I wasn’t 100% comfortable with, I did a google search and found Dr. Nicholas. I’ve had a few consultations in the past but she had the best treatment plan for me by a long shot. My only regret is not finding her sooner. Everyone in this practice has been genuine and professional during my visits and through all means of communication. If you want the best care and also need to feel comfortable, you have to go to Dr. Nicholas!

The latest in technology is employed and really impressive. My consultation resulted in a good experience for me and an informative exchange with Dr. Nicholas.
