My wife and I went to Pitfire Pizza in Costa Mesa on Friday night. We started off with turkey meatballs in marinara sauce. They were excellent. The turkey was obviously fresh, the meatballs were seasoned well, and the sauce was sweet but not overbearing.nnI got the honey bear pizza, and my wife got the field mushroom pizza. With the honey bear pizza, you taste the honey and sausage first, and then you get a spicy delayed reaction with the Calabrian chiles. I like spice, so that made me quite happy. I have never had honey on a pizza before, but the sweet and spicy combination definitely worked. I understand why this pizza is one of their best sellers.nnI love mushrooms, and the field mushroom pizza is definitely a winner. I could taste mushrooms and cheese in every bite. No part of either pizza overpowered the other.nnThe Orange County Register (local paper) recommended this restaurant, and we left quite satisfied. We look forward to a return visit.
The provolone cheese they have in this place is absolutely amazing! Their pizzas are my favorites.
