Monterey Surf Inn Downtown

I stayed here for 11 days out of the blue and I am completely satisfied! Very clean place, I couldn't hear the people in the other rooms, sweet staff, safe place to stay and close to grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops and places to go see. I will recommend this place 100% and I plan on staying here in the future as well.

Clean and cheap on the wallet

It was disappointing. Non- refundable. Room was not ready at 4pm. 3 bathroom vanity lights were out. The others flickered, Asked to be replaced. Never happened. No toiletries. Only bar soap. Bathtub had no stopper.nNo coffee maker. No bedside lamps. Only 1 set of towels for 2 people.nNo bedspread or cover. Bedroom window was cracked. Switch plate for inside light was busted. The faux leather couch was ripped. Had to move bed to access plug for cell phone charger.nThey had zero coffee on premises which I was told would be in office in morning. Office was locked.nThis is during Covid-19. However I travel often, and have stayed in the last 6 months at 4 other hotels in area, on this street, none of them were like this. This was unacceptable.

Rooms are always clean, normally pretty cheap. I accidentally booked two rooms by mistake and they gave me a refund for one. Definitely coming back.

I book a room the price with Agoda was $54.45. When I got to the room and checked out I looked at the bank statement the hotel charged me $71.33. They will sneak in charges illegally. When ever I use that service that is all I get charged that it’s why it’s (prepaid). The room was dirty stains on the wall, sticky doors. I had to sanitize everything 2 of the pillows smelled bad. I put those on an table away from me. I was constantly washing my hands, because no matter how much I cleaned that room, it’s as if there was layers of sticky something in that room. The man over all isn’t rude, he kindly said, “it’s Agoda changing that”, yet those extra charges have never been applied at other hotels. Avoid this hotel if possible
