Alliance Alice M. Baxter College-Ready High School

Since joining the Alice M. Baxter high school freshman class in 2014 my son has excelled in every way. As a proactive and dedicated student I have watched him take even further responsibility in his studies. The Baxter educational model incorporates accelerated learning as well as focused practices for students learning at a slower pace. The teaching staff encourages extracurricular activities such as NFTE (Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship) where students are coached in business by current entrepreneurs. At the end of the course they present a entrepreneurial concept for prize money and a possible grant to facilitate its expansion.They have also recently instilled a new athletic program including cross country, track and field, basketball, cheerleading, soccer and volleyball. My son was a part of the track team this past Spring season. Baxter came along just in time;having been declined at schools whose acceptance is provisioned by lottery, his only choice would have been San Pedro high school. Baxter High school has allowed him the opportunity to further stretch his learning capabilities.nAt Baxter my son has been given the opportunity to complete college level courses. And was selected to participate in a four day stay at UCLA this summer as part of their young scholar program.nI expect great things for him attending this school.
