The Barnhouse has a great website with great reviews so I excitedly drove over but found the place closed. When I spoke with the owner on the phone later in the day he said that he meets with people only by appointment [says that now on his website]. We set up an appointment and was so glad that I did. First, Jeff, the owner of Barnhouse, is a genuinely sincere and accommodating man. It was a pleasure getting acquainted with him. Best of all, however, was the stone Jeff has to offer. Wow, I was overwhelmed. For the craftsman looking for a selection of beautiful, raw material, this is it. Great experience - look forward to next time.

I asked Jeff to create a pendant out of a stone I brought home from Catalina. Jeff met my expectation with price and deadlines, and exceeded my expectations in terms of artistic quality of the final result. I am extremely happy with his work, and my girlfriend loved the gift. I give Jeff my full recommendation!

So I call up and ask if they can identify stone or if they have ways of testing what it is. The man that answers the phone rush me off to get to a customer says that they're not open today on Saturday and that he has no way there at barn house to identify a stone. Now it's my understanding that a lapidary know how to handle stones and identify stones. I got to tell you I'm pretty disappointed with the service there and more than likely will not be going back.

Barnhouse Lapidary has THE best material I've ever seen and had the pleasure of buying. He only provides the best material out there. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone!

Barnhouse Lapidary is the ultimate supplier of top quality gem rock. Rough, slabs and finished cabs along with jewelry is exactly what you will find. He is constantly updating his inventory so keep checking back! I have done a significant amount of business with him and he is always polite. I happen to have been by his side at a show when he received a phone call that asked him to identify a rock. He politely responded to the potential client that he doesn’t offer that service. The caller kept him for a long while as he was trying to help me purchase rough at the show where he was selling in Quartzsite. I did not become impatient but apparently the caller did and then that caller called him a very foul name and hung up. I see he placed a bad review on Jeff’s page here. Very uncool. No one is more professional than Jeff. Period.
