It has been almost a year since my abuser attacked me, I still remember that day, and parts of it still haunt me. The actions of the City of Bakersfield's address data breach have completely impacted and changed my life. I cannot even begin to describe the feelings of terror I felt when I was attacked by my would be fiance.nnI spent over three months hospitalized and endured six surgeries. I am including photos for you to see. I could speak for hours about the complications in care, the financial burden it has had on my family, the stress of not being able to work and struggling to get assistance. The pain I suffer knowing the city has made my address available for him to get is unbearable. It was in moments like this that I had to remind myself that I have control over what has been taken from me. I am a survivor. I am still the same person that I was before this happened to me. But now I have scars and old wounds that remind me of how strong I have become. You haven’t taken away my will to live, you haven’t broken my spirit. These scars are a constant reminder of what happened but don’t define my future.nnCouncilman Gonzales, Mr. Clegg, Mayor Goh ... we want you to know how the city's posting of deeds online has impacted us and do more to protect the victim's whose addresses Bakersfield posted on the city's website. What is the city doing? Why can't I get a response from our city? You should be recalled.

My spouse has been practicing law for decades and is currently serving as a judge. Our address is confidential - or so we thought. For a number of years we had been receiving various threats by mail. This week, we were made aware that the city uploaded Kern County grant deeds to the web including the names and addresses of numerous judges, clerks, and staff. This is in direct violation of Ca Gov Code 6254.21.nnOnce a judge's address is posted online, it is very difficult to identify who may have obtained it and to remove it from the entire web. We expressed these concerns and were referred to the city attorney's office. Ms. Gennaro and Mr. Clegg haven't taken any steps to protect our family's safety.

We are very concerned about the city's posting of addresses on the Internet. Bakersfield has made this information readily available for violent offenders to obtain this information online. By not disclosing the full size and scope of the records posted online, victims continue to be placed at risk and may not even know their address got into the wrong hands. Our calls and emails to Mayor Goh, Vice Mayor Parlier, and Manager Clegg have been ignored. They need to do more to protect the safety of victims, including those who do not know their information has or previously been posted online.

We are concerned about the data breach. Our family had credit cards established in our names. We understand that this was caused by the city posting our information online. We reached out to the mayor, city council, and city manager and they refuse to respond. Very unprofessional.

Our business was considering expanding in Bakersfield and bring 500 jobs. We reached out to Christian Clegg's office because we were concerned about the posting of deeds online and the title theft issues that have been reported. We never got a reply. We are now looking at relocating to Shafter instead.
