I went to see Jane few days ago to appraise two of my most favorite custom necklaces for insurance purposes. I was so amazed by her professionalism, knowledge, expertise, and valuable feedback. She went into great detail explaining to me the value of my pendents and why they are special. I learned a lot and now feel so much more confident in my purchases. Also, she really went above and beyond to make me feel safe from coronavirus exposure in her office as everything I came into contact with was sanitized, we both were wearing masks and kept more than 6 feet distance. I highly recommend Jane to anyone who wishes to have their jewelry professionally evaluated and to anyone who simply wants to learn more facts about their precious pieces.

Jane is a great person and she is extremely knowledgeable! I needed a consultation regarding my loose colored gemstones. Which one should I send to the gemological laboratory in order to get a certificate and which one isn’t worth it? Jane's detailed consultation helped me a lot! She has found a feather (sort of a crack) in one of the stones and pointed it out to me that the stone needs special attention during the process of mounting it and that I should be choosing a highly reputable jeweler for such a delicate job. Now my next step is to send the stones to AGL lab (I hope it reopens soon) so they get brief cards or more detailed certificates and then set them into jewelry pieces. After that I will come back to Jane and get them appraised for insurance purposes. I highly recommend J.E. Carleton Appraisals to anyone who is considering getting insurance for their precious jewelry or has questions regarding loose gems or diamonds. Since I am going to buy more gemstones for my future projects, I will be back with them too.

Jane Carleton has to be among the top jewelry appraisers in the Bay Area. She is highly knowledgeable , detail oriented, professional and ethical.nnAdditionally Jane is incredibly generous with her time — taking as long as needed to explain how various stones are evaluated and how she arrives at her final appraisal. Needless to say, I learned a lot from her.nnJane came highly recommended to me by a well known retiring jewelry appraiser. I am truly grateful!
