Several of my relatives were some of the first graduates of Berkeley, until my dad broke the tradition and went to Stanford. (He got his mechanical engineering degree and Master’s degree in engineering there). What can I say, it’s Berkeley! (Known in its radical years as Bezerkly)! This is a great public educational facility! My great aunt majored in Botany at UC Berkeley at a time when few women went to college. She wrote a large section of Jepson’s book that was the backbone of Botany for many years. Aunt Elsie was a renowned Botanist that consulted with Harvard. She helped to develop the Botanical gardens at Berkeley. Aunt Elsie loved to scour the hills of Marin County and discovered several wild flowers. Even as an elderly person, she maintained a botanical exhibit in her retirement home. She would drive out to the Presidio and other locations and collect the samples that she displayed. Aunt Elsie lived to be 102. She was an icon and an inspiration ❣ufe0f
UC Berkeley is absolutely breathtaking. I didn’t know how beautiful it was it’s like entering a different world. I definitely can’t wait to come back and visit. I met some wonderful people very knowledgeable and well educated. “Obviously” very inspiring for myself and for my daughter.
