I didn't take lessons from Joe but have flown with him several times. He's a patient, safe, and conscientious aviator who communicates very well. He would, in my mind, be an outstanding instructor. Learning to fly is different for everybody. Joe's flexibility and keen interest in my experience while flying with him tell me he'll adapt well to different instructional settings.

My CFI Joe Mattison helped me obtain my PPL. I worked with Joe a lot on both my ground school as well as flying proficiency. He is extremely knowledgeable and a very effective instructor who took his time to ensure that I was proficient in all the required subject areas. He was very patient, and positive as well as critical whenever it was called for. I Highly recommend him for anyone in the Livermore area needing a flight instructor.

Just had my first lesson with Joe and I'm super eager to get back up in the air! Joe brings that unique combo of professionalism and fun that is hard to find. I'll be back here to fill this review in with more detail once I get my PPL, but I'm confident the 5-stars won't change!
