Powhatan Family Vision Center

Recently relocated from Va Beach to Richmond and I have been way over-do for an updated eye prescription. I am a Veteran/College Student and attend to the VA for all my medical needs. Due to COVID, I haven't been able to schedule an appointment in months. Out of desperation, I sought medical attention in the civilian sector. Dr. Carter was OUTSTANDING, to say the least. She explained by exam and results with precision and kindness. I was not feeling well due to a new medication I am taking and was very patient with me. I viewed their eyewear selection but had to leave because I feeling well. I rescheduled to come back 3 weeks later and was greeted by Brittany and Mason for my selection. They were very patient and educated me on all my concerns as I am a very indecisive person (I'm very hard on my glasses and tired of buying a new pair every year). Many businesses gear you to their most expensive items to push sales on you. I was never treated in that matter and it would be difficult to convince me otherwise as I'm a former business owner and know better. Upon paying for my purchase, I was greeted by the office manager, Bethany, thanking me for coming in. This practice has gone above and beyond with safety and sanitation precautions for everyone entering the practice due to COVID. To the staff, THANK YOU for making my experience very welcoming with small town kindness and big city professionalism. I appreciate you!

So.. had an eye issue on a Friday.... And even though the office was super busy... They made sure I was checked out and didn't have to suffer through the weekend. And this was my first visit here. That compassion and dedication has earned my families business!! And on top of that... They are dog lovers!!! Thanks Doc!!!

I have always loved taking my family to se the doctors here, but after today will not go back. My daughter has pretty specific set of eye issues and I tried asking a question to a young man with tattoos and gauges in his ears. He is not a doctor, acted as if he knew the answer, but did not let me finish my question. I asked him to allow me to finish my question. He proceeded to become extremely rude and when I asked his name he would not give it to me. I asked another staff member what his name was which was met with a snarky response of “if he wanted you to have his name he would give it to you.” This is unfortunate, I do like the doctors, but refuse to be spoken to like this. When I called to ask to obtain my medical records so I could go to another doctor, I was told that they heard two sides to the story. That tells me right there they have no respect for their patients.
