William T Young Library

If you're an undergraduate student and need a nice, quiet place to study, along with amenities such as Starbucks and vending machines as well as eateries and a cafeteria across the street, then the Young Library is perfect. However if you're a grad student, professor, or independent researcher in need of periodicals and books, then the Young Library can be frustrating. For example, many of the latest papers, even in some of the most prestigious journals, are not accessible due to UK's unwillingness to pay for the service. You probably also will not have access to much older papers. So, the Young Library is a very good place to study, but generally not a good place to access papers and books.

A library built on the back of Jif Peanut Butter...containing the largest Starbucks in the state of Kentucky in a building called....wait for it.... Willy T? What else could you ask for in a public research institution? In all honesty, a great public space with excellent resources and very helpful staff. The architecture reminds me of the British Museum, but the open space can be a bit loud for those trying to study. Wait - hold up - there also designated quiet spaces on the outer side of each wing that literally keep away the noise thanks the layout with the stacks situated between the public space and the study space? Wow!nnSeriously, an excellent library. :-)

Nice building,one of the best places to study.

This is definitely the best library I’ve ever been in. It’s made to house books, and the selection is phenomenal. They have old books as well as new titles. It always features many study rooms, private rooms, meeting spaces, white boards, computer labs, reference areas, and more. Not to mention it holds a Starbucks and a basement dedicated to students. It’s a beautiful building nestled in the heart of the University of Kentucky. I highly recommend checking this gorgeous structure out next time you visit the area.
