Callahan Flanagan & Smith PC

About 6 years ago I was researching orthodontic treatment, I came across Callahan, Flanagan and Smith. It’s taken me 6 years to write this, as I’m now nearly complete in my orthodontic treatment, fornthe second time. I came in for a consultation with Dr. Flanagan who seemed very professional and courteous. After he performed an initial evaluation, he recommended full braces, 4 extractions, and jaw surgery. He stated that since I was an adult, to achieve the most optimal result, I would need jaw surgery. I partly misunderstood his advice and almost passed out in the office from shock. As a child, I had been screened for potential orthodontic issues, but my mom felt that my small issues didn’t warrant paying for treatment. Needless to say I was surprised to hear that my issues required such aggressive treatment. Once I gathered my bearings, he quickly said that he only RECOMMENDED surgery (highly) and that it wouldn’t be necessary to achieve good results. He recommended an oral surgeon who was located very conveniently downstairs in the same building. I foolishly chose to start treatment, under the condition that I would only see Dr. Flanagan. I didn’t want other doctors treating me, besides Dr. Flanagan. A week later I had an appointment for impressions. The staff was polite, prompt and efficient. A younger doctor (Dr. Stock) was observing in the corner. The dental assistant said that he wanted to look at my teeth to which I objected. I explained that Dr. Flanagan was going to be my doctor, and I didn’t feel comfortable being examined by someone else. Dr. Stock then chose to examine my teeth, in spite of my objections. I felt outraged by this violation of trust and lack of consent, but I instead chose to leave quietly, intent on never returning. A few weeks later, I found an excellent orthodontist who had a different plan, which included fewer extractions, no mention of surgery, and one doctor. In conclusion, I was surprised at the lack of professionalism I encountered when I visited the practice, especially since they were so highly recommended and respected. I assume there were several miscommunication errors on both of our parts. Nevertheless, Dr. Stock was way out of line.

Highly recommend from the staff to the dentist Dr Callahan is the best... Kid friendly even have play stations and X boxes for kids to play on while they wait which wasn't long... Only downside is that they are Orthodontist no dentistry. What a great combo that would be. You won't be disappointed....

My son had a great experience here with his braces. They are great at scheduling you quickly if you need a minor repair.
