Plenty of parking, the waiting area in the metra station was open and well maintained

It's a train station what can be said about it. Schedule are posted and east to find you can't miss it.

The Franklin Park metra station on the MD-W line is untidy and not maintained well. There is no restroom.

This is a nice train station used to have a ticket agent but now no one works at the station and you have to buy your tickets on the train or in Chicago. The closest train station with a ticket agent would be Chicago Union Station or Itasca station

Great place for railfanning Metra, Canadian Pacfic and Indiana Harbor Belt.
