I'm new to the county and wished to speak to someone about volunteering at the office. I am retired from the coroner office in California with 25 years experience. No one in the office has the courtesy to return my phone calls. Very unprofessional. This county deserves better service for their tax payer dollars.
My father passed away with a massive heart attack while visiting here in Anderson, Sunday, July 8th. We drove our mother 5 hours last night to make arrangements with the funeral home to get my daddy home. All of daddy's personal effects were given to us in a sealed envelope, but dad's wallet and cell phone were not in there. We have been sitting at the coroner's office and making phone calls for hours, and can not get in touch with anyone that can help us. My 75 year old mother is exhausted and emotionally drained, and we can't get her home because the coroner's office won't authorize any of his children to stay and sign for his belongings. We're just wondering why dad's wallet was even separate from the rest of his belongings. This has been a nightmare for our family, and we're still sitting in the coroner's parking lot as I write this. Anderson, SC will never make our list of top cities for friendliness and cooperation.
