I had a great experience with Phillip Gubler in 2018. However in a recent experience on a real estate foreclosure with James Spendlove and his team, it's been the complete opposite of my past experience for the worst. In fact, I don't think if I would have been on top of dates and requesting tasks be started or following up on tasks, the foreclosure process wouldn't have ever been completed! In a Foreclosure, you need a team that is on top of the dates and is timely in getting things processed and submitted to the courts/County immediately and as quickly as possible. This was not the case with my experience and I had to continually follow up and request updates and tasks be completed because there was complete disregard for anything timely on their end. In fact, once the foreclosure bid was conducted at the county courthouse, it took over 21 days for the firm to record a the necessary deed to take ownership of the property (I was the lender in the foreclosure). I still have not heard back from them regarding the delay. I also had issues regarding non-disclosed fees, incorrect billing, and lack of communication. The total ending fees/costs on this case will be almost 40% higher than the other bid I received from another attorney. If you do decide to move forward with them, request a breakdown of fees upfront before they start piling up the fees and tacking on an absurd costs. I questioned one 15 minute phone call I had documented and was billed 1 hour, which they did credit back a small portion of, however, since I questioned that bill every charge since then was put into the highest hourly category of billing. This resulted in over 7.3 hours of work that I was not told about and then at $250 hour.... You do the math. I'd hate to think they'd punish a client for questioning billing on an overcharge of an hour or so, but that doesn't seem to be the case per my account. It seems out of spite they are doing everything they can to nickel and dime a client. I hate to write this review since my experience with another attorney here was absolutely a 5-star experience with a Trust; however I would advise anyone needing real estate law or that is considering using James Spendlove and his team to steer clear and seek attorney help elsewhere. Maybe my case was so small and it wasn't a cash cow for them so they didn't prioritize it... I'm not sure. I felt like a nuisance to them anytime I called in and felt like I was just another number. It was a bad experience and I'm writing this review to warn others. I've left my previous review of Phillip Gubler up (see below) as I don't want this review to reflect negatively on his work and our experience with him. ***Previous review from 2018 about my experience with Phillip Gubler - Phillip is a top-notch attorney and had always been responsive and helpful. He takes great pride in his work and always has the client's interest as priority. Be sure to meet with Phillip for your specific needs and especially anything related to trusts and wills!

Thomas Bayles redid our estate planning when we moved to Utah. Both he and his assistant Annie Schwiermann were thorough, professional and pleasant to work with. They clearly pride themselves on being current with best practices in the field, and happily take whatever time is necessary to understand their clients’ concerns and to explain options. More than once, we were reminded that their goal is to provide us with peace of mind regarding our estate plan. We have that now, and I can recommend this office without qualification.

I have always had good experiences interacting with the people here. The lobby is clean and they have a snack tray in the waiting area.
