A warm and welcoming environment. A place to go to be free, to grow and learn. A place of love and peace. A place to heal. A place where God lives and you are free to worship. The people are wonderful as well.

My family moved to this community 2 years ago. After doing our research for a church home, we started to attend Cornerstone Church. At first we thought the church was great but there were 3 instances that let us know this wasn't the church for us.nn1) after church someone's car broke down and they were asking people as they left the church for help. A couple people went over to try to help. When the leaders from the church found out, they approached the family and threatened to call the police if they didn't leave the premises. The family begged the church to help. I left because I it wasn't much I could do and I had to get my family home. I don't know what the end results were but the tone that was used, the lack of empathy that was displayed always stood out to me.nn2. We wanted to get our son dedicated. Our daughter was going through a lot health wise. We asked the church if we could get him dedicated and they said we would first have to meet with the pastor. We attempted to meet with him but our schedule and the pastors schedule conflicted. Our daughter had a big surgery coming up and we were stressing to get our son dedicated. They wouldn't allow us to meet virtually or with a phone conference and our schedules didn't mesh.nnTo us that showed a lack of humility and empathy.nn3. We enrolled our son in their 2 year old daycare program. The pastor has provided the direction for how the program is run and the 1st lady runs the daycare. Our son has some medical conditions and often times does not sleep through the night. Some nights we decide to let him sleep in late in order to catch up on his rest. The daycare has a policy where they won't allow children to come after 9 am even with a doctors note. The pastor said there were no exceptions. They claim it was because the child tardiness disturbs the learning of others but also admit they do not have a curriculum for children under 4 years old. Our child has yet to learn how to count, alphabets or any other vital thing a 2 year old should be learning from your program. We inquired what they planned on teaching and they couldn't provide an answer. The only proof they provided that he was doing anything positive was the coloring sheets that was sent home. We asked if we could provide the school with some materials to work on basic counting and ABCs and they told us no. We asked if they could provide an update on when our child doesn't eat and that was met with a no. We noticed the pack of diapers we sent were lasting longer than expected and he was often dirty or wet when he was sent home. We also noticed his stomach seemed to be off sometimes when he got home and we asked if they could keep us abreast of abnormal diaper changes or consistency and was only promised that 2 runny stools and he would be sent home.nnIn this life I have had struggles and need to surround myself with a church that exudes the qualities of Christ. I love the diversity of the church. I love the people of the church. I loved the outreach of the church. I however don't like the haughty demeanor of the leadership.

A good example of what the Church is supposed to be. Their mission statement is Building an authentic community, Lifting up Jesus, Growing in Him, and Touching our world.
