The Pediatric Center

My family and I are new to the area from another part of VA. After going through 2 different pediatricians and then going without one for quite a while, I am pleasantly surprised by this facility. The front office staff, the nurse, the lab tech, the doctor, everyone was kind, and helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome. For that alone I say, thank you.

We have been bringing our daughters to the Pediatric Center for about five years now. We see Dr. Marks and are very thankful for his kindness and attention to their health. We have had great experiences with their staff and most of the physicians that we have seen. I have recommended this practice to friends and am very happy with it. We visit the VCC and John Rolfe locations and both are nice. The kids always appreciate the sea creatures and ocean themes, and they love seeing the fish tanks at John Rolfe.

Overheard some nurses talking and laughing about my son. My son is big for his age but that was very unprofessional of them. I opened my door and asked are they talking about my son?! They started back paddling and said we weren't talking about a patient. Who else could it be when I heard them mention his age and reason he was there! Also, the receptionist that checked us in was rude and yelled at us when we arrived, to go back out!! I was not told when I made my appointment it was curbside check in. I will not be returning to this location.

Two boys- 2 and 3.nThis place has been beyond helpful for this new mom. One of my kids happens to have a lot of allergies and the other none.nThey do a great job of reviewing all information and making me feel like my mom gut is heard.nNever hard to get someone on the phone or make an appointment.nAll staff friendly.

I arrived 5-7 minutes late to my children appointment, nobody mentioned anything. I completed the check up. The nurse called us to go in the room to wait for the doctor. The doctor came in saw us and left the room. Then she came back stating that she would not be seen my children because we were 5 minutes late. Then, the manager of the clinic came and told me that my children were not going to be seem for their physical. Keep in mind that at this point we had already completed all the process to see the doctor and waited for over 30 minutes in the the waiting room and now in the checkup room. I felt extremely upset about the whole situation. I don't know if my children were not being seen because they were hispanic or because we were late 5 minutes. I feel like if they were actually late for their appointments, they would have told us before checked in and walked in to the checking room. And not have us wait for the doctor to go inside the room to decide that it was too late to see my children.At the time, I was really hurt for all of these, so I did not write a review. I just gave them a 1 star. But I decided to tell my story. I have changed pediatrician and I absolutely love my new doctor. In a way, I am thankful that something bad happen to us to make me search for a better practice. As a parent, I should have done my research and read reviews on the practice that I was bringing my children too. I should not have settle for location convenience. I much rather drive 4 more miles and ensure that my children will be seem with love and respect from doctor that actually care. I Have a great insurance plan. I did not have any bills pending at the moment of my issue or ever. The reason why were 5 minutes late to beginning with was because my son had an accident when leaving the house.
