The Wingina boat ramp provides access to a very family friendly section of the James River. A couple miles downstream you'll find a couple beaches river right . These provide a natural picnic spot and swimming opportunities. Another half mile take out at midway mills public ramp or continue down to Howardsville public ramp another 8.5 miles. This is a beautiful stretch of the river. No industry or developments have often paddled the whole length out seen another soul or than the occaisional Bald Eagle, deer or even a bear once seen swimming across the river.
