One of my favs..i grew up on the james...im a real river rat...lol..theres tubing and camping.

Kickstands Up Motorcycle Riders rode to the Scottsville-Hatton Ferry 3 times. And each time was filled with surprises. It was awesome to ride across the James River on a historical gem. Apparently, it is the last poled ferry in the U.S. We were flooded out on our last visit but the ride to the ferry was fantastic anyway.

History and local lore are at your finger tips. Literally. The ferryman's wealth of knowledge and pleasant demeanor make it a must stop spot. A marking pole on the side of the ticket office show the various levels of flood waters the James river has experienced over the past decades. Parking is somewhat limited but easily solved by a short ferry ride across the river on one of the last hand cranked ferry's in the country. Enjoy.

Did the tube ride from here. Next time will be better prepared. I will bring water shoes and a cooler, will rent tube for cooler. Mostly low tide, steady tow. Will bump your butt on boulders in water, flatten out across tube ((=)) instead of my butt sitting below the tube opening. ((₩))
