Our (my husband and I) experience with Destination Rehab was a wonderful one. We had recently moved back to Oregon after a lengthy absence. Dave was having problems with balance and movement. He had tried a Rehab where he had a gait belt attached and a therapist would walk him around the therapy space. He had exercises to do. We would come home. We tried some Parkinson's dance, etc. But honestly it wasn't a good match. Then we discovered Destination Rehab. What a difference this made in our lives for the next two years. We did outdoor activities such as pickleball, hikes (like Lava Butte, spring on the high desert, the park trails, etc) snowshoeing, painting, kayaking, recumbent biking. yoga. We had speakers on nutrition, on mindfulness, on cognitive therapy. We were part of a group that met weekly. It was engaging, and helped relieve a sense of isolation. It was getting back into living again.

My ongoing experience with Destination Rehab is positive in so many ways. It's focus has been on innovative ways to make outdoor activities accessible and safe for stroke patients like me as well as people with other neurological problems. Not only has it affected my physical well being, but my mental state, giving me the confidence to tackle things I never thought I could do.

Destination Rehab is a caring, strong, and effective program that supports people with neurologic conditions (MS, injury, etc.) by engaging them in outdoor, active recovery. “Rehab in the Real World” is the opportunity to work hard in the beauty of the outdoors with caring professionals leading your rehabilitation.

Destination Rehab is a creative, inspiring and empowering physical therapy program that takes people from the clinic and home environment to the outdoors! Using tools like kayaks, hiking trails and even the snow as “equipment” changes the experience and provides people with real life therapies that can be done almost anywhere with anyone!
