My wife and I came here for our first visit and had a nice time. It cost $12 for each of us, which at first, might seem like a lot but when you get inside and start exploring, you realize how much care goes into the gardens and how much upkeep they require and you leave feeling like the $12 is a bargain. When you go in the welcome center to pay, they give you walking tour pamphlet that does a very nice job taking you around the gardens and informing you on what you are looking at. At times, it has you criss cross around the lower gardens which is actually nice as each time you go across, you seem to see more that you didn't see the first time. There are some unique plants here from dawn redwoods, yoshino cherry trees started from the cherry trees in DC, and a ton of different bonsai trees with one dating back to 1930 and many others from the 40s, 50s all the way up to the 2000s. We spent probably an hour and 45 minutes here walking around and a few times said that we'd like to come back in the spring time to see the peonies and iris's bloom. We are also hoping to buy one of the redwood seedlings the next time there is a sale which happens every three years. If you like the outdoors and want a unique and tranquil setting for a wedding, they also do those here as well. There was one the day we were there and the setting for it was very nice! If you like plants and are looking for a unique place to go see some that are not native to our area, I highly recommend checking Schedel out. It is hard to believe the gardens were once a families yard and hardwork. They did a tremendous job preserving plants and allowing people to see different species of plants they may not otherwise have a chance to see.

This was a beautiful place to spend the day walking around in the trees and the breeze and the beautiful sunshine. The grounds are well taken care of and it is easy to walk around. I would love to come back in the spring time and see all the different peonies they have In Bloom. I had no idea there was so many different colors

Attended nephew's wedding this Friday. The grounds were very relaxing somewhat enchanting peaceful. Golf carts were available ( only to be driven by staff, very good idea and policy) to take people to and from venue if they were unable to do because of age medical reason or some one who has had A bit much to drink. Would recommend this place for any event. You will be very pleased.

This is a beautiful and calm space. The no touching plants was hard, but I understand why. I wish they would add a “touchable” garden lol

Beautiful gardens and friendly knowledgeable staff willing to take time and educate. Heard great things are happening here. Great for meetings, weddings or just a family day in the gardens.
