This is a nice fire tower. You can climb up to the top of it, where you can see a really nice view of the surrounding Mohican State Park.
Great historic glimpse into forest management strategies in Ohio. Although it does have a newer box-sort of contraption at the base of the stairs to block novice climbers... it looks like they've sort of closed it off now... I have great memories of visiting this park and climbing the dizzying steps to the top of the tower as a child. Great view of the forest and surrounding hills from up there.
I looked it up. Everything I saw there was no issue with it covid. Just that there was a limit of 6 at a time. Drove over a half hour to find it CLOSED! What a waste of time. So disappointed!
Great place to stop on your way to The covered bridge or on your way back. Best time to go is sunrise or sunset for the best view in my opinion.
Stairs for the tower were blocked with the wooden plank due to COVID . So unfortunately no one could go up there and check out the fall colors.nGenerally it's good place to check the view.nThere are couple of picnic benches available for sitting and having some food.nI did not see any restroom & fountain near by this place.
