BIG neglect and elderly abuse. If there were no stars to give that would be how I would rate them. The lack of humanity and care for their residence is unbelievable. Please do not send your loved one there. My loved one was dropped and had to file a police report and was still mistreated and neglected.

I’ve been very pleased overall with my mother living here. The office and nursing staff have been wonderful. Susan, the activities director, plans a lot of engaging crafts, activities and outings to keep them physically and mentally busy. No nursing home will be perfect, that’s the nature of things, but this is the best that I’ve visited.

This place is single handedly the reason my grandfather passed away before his time. They neglected him and made him sit in his soiled sheets and bed leading to numerous infections and irreversible damage. They made his son buy his own bed and later was found that they never put anything to cover the mattress leading to bed sores and skin sticking to the bed and pulled away from his body. I wish I could leave negative stars and petition to have this place condemned. My poor uncle had to call 911 to have him removed and treated in the CCU but it was too late. Who ever is responsible for the care there needs to be fired or jailed. I'm disgusted that this has happened to such a great man. He and probably everyone in there deserves better. Rest in peace Grandpa. Go to hell Charlton Place.

The location, facility and rooms are beautiful and clean. Overall, the nurses and staff seem very friendly and competent. We had one major issue here that I think is more of a sad commentary on how we regard and care for our elderly in general, than a criticism of the care my mother received at Charlton Place. My mother told me a lady named BB yelled at her, was rough with her and that BB actually let her fall, hitting one of her knees on the floor. BB admitted she was the one who cared for my mother, but denied my mother fell. When BB was transferring my mother from her wheelchair to her bed, I felt she was extremely rough with her, so much so that I was afraid my mother would be injured because her bones are very fragile due to her having osteoporosis. I also observed BB having an attitude that made me not trust her caring for my mother because if she behaved like that in my presence, how would she behave if she were alone with no one observing her. When I reported these things, the Director of Nursing quickly arranged a meeting with about 12+ staff members and myself in a small room. I was only told she wanted to talk to me, not that she had arranged a meeting with my mother's staff. Had I known, I would have suggested my mother attend the meeting as well and recount her complaint personally. It seemed very strange to me that the Director of Nursing had called all the staff who had cared for my mother to the meeting, but did not call the very staff member my mother said hurt her, BB. I told the Director of Nursing that my mom had no complaints about any staff member except BB. It was only then that she sent someone to call BB to the meeting. At the meeting, BB denied letting my mother fall and my mother's account of what happened was totally dismissed by the Director of Nursing with her explanation being that my mother was probably just confused and imagined the whole thing. My own observations of BB being rough were dismissed as a misunderstanding on my part, my not being familiar with how elderly patients are transferred safely. I am not trained in caring for the elderly, but I have observed my mother being gently transferred many times in other healthcare facilities and in the hospital in a manner that I felt was safe. I do believe my mother's account of what happened because her account was plausible and logical; BB herself confirmed everything my mother said, except the part in which my mother said she fell; my mother was very alert and was not confused when she told me these things that had occurred just before I arrived to visit her; my mother did have a bruise on her knee after the incident as well. I'm not sure if the bruise was there before the incident, but it certainly was there after it. I did not feel my mother was safe at Charlton Place in BB's care, and I felt the Director of Nursing was biased in BB's favor and could not be trusted to protect my mother from her, so I immediately transferred my mom to another healthcare facility.

It's clean, they seem to have a good array of resident activities, the staff is friendly, and the food is great.
