I first visited this grave in 1968. Then, while a student at Southwestern University in Georgetown I visited many times in the early 1980's. The last time would have been in 2012 or so when my parents-in-law were visiting from Taiwan. This is a lovely place and reminds me of an old western cemetery.
Glad this is saved to the map, makes it easy to find. The kids have enjoy reading the history around town and this is a good stop after learning the story.
This is the final resting place of the noted outlaw and train robber Sam Bass, who was shot in July of 1878 in Round Rock and died nearby. His lieutenant, Seaborn Barnes, who was killed in the same shootout, is buried next to him.
