Tennessee School for the Deaf

This school has yet to fully implement bilingual/bicultural education. Many of the staff are “hearing” and exhibits colonialism mindset. They’re not that great as Texas school for the deaf, California school for the Deaf, Indiana School for the Deaf, and Maryland School for the Deaf. They’re not there yet.

Disclaimer: My son is on the staff at TSD. That said, it is an amazing school serving a more or less historically outcast special needs group. Staff is hard working, even passionate, and very compassionate. I am proud of all of them. Campus is open and beautiful. This is a valuable resource for the state of Tennessee.
