We have a second home in Blowing Rock and are always looking for new things to do with friends. For the first time we to a carriage ride with Blowing Rock Carriage Company. The horse was overworked and refused to move forward for most of the 2 1/2 hour ride. Several times we had to ask to get off as the horse was moving sideways and we were in danger of the carriage turning over and rolling down the mountain. For more than half the ride Jimmy, the owner and driver, had to walk and pull the horse by the bridle. At the same time he was whipping the horse with the lead. We felt he was abusive to the horse. A bad and expensive experience.
