The hike from the parking lot was beautiful, I found no trash along the trail, and the trail seems to be maintained well. I’ve only been once and that was when it was foggy. I had no view from the tower but it was still amazing! Only giving 4 stars because civilians are locked out of the top level of the tower. But you can still get (almost) the same view from the stairs!

We parked at Ball Creek Road and began our hike to the fire tower on Albert Mountain. It took us about 30 minutes and was pretty much uphill all the way there. It was a little strenuous, but not too bad. We met a few people hiking the trail heading north. Everyone was very friendly. Once we reached the tower, the view was so beautiful! Definitely worth the short hike to reach the tower. You are able to climb up the tower part of the way. There is historical information at the tower that is quite interesting. Lots of fun and our 2 small dogs were able to make the hike with no trouble as well.

I’m not sure where I started the hike! I continued on down the road from Picken’s Nose. It was less than a mile to the fire tower. And an easy hike. The views were amazing. And I met a through hiker at the base of the tower! The road to Picken’s nose was a challenge! I also doubled back and went left at the fork to Laurel Falls. Very nice also.

Great fall leaves view on the way to the fire tower.

Hiked this trail this weekend. I started from the Albert Mountain Bypass trail which begins at the end of Ball Creek Rd. The trail is marked with blue blazes. Once you hit about half a of a mile, you will come intersect with the Appalachian trail which is marked with white blazes on trees. TURN RIGHT to head up to the fire tower on top of Albert Mountain. It’s about another half a mile to the tower from the intersection. The trail is very well maintained and clear of any fallen trees. Next time I go, I want to hike up to the fire tower from the Appalachian Train intersection on Ball Creek Rd which is about a 2.5 mile hike to the fire tower
